On Nov. 20, 2025, Church Alliance Executive Director Christopher Wells published an opinion article in Religion News Service (RNS) to help widen awareness and support for the bipartisan Clergy Act.
The Clergy Act would re-establish a path to Social Security benefits for clergy who have mistakenly opted out of the program. The article contends that to strengthen the backbone of American communities, Congress should pass the Clergy Act sooner rather than later.
The publication of the article promises to invigorate further support for the Clergy Act among RNS’ audience, which includes more than a million monthly readers who are interested in the vital role that religion plays in societies across the globe.
